Pool Salt System Repair & Installation

Lakeland’s #1 Pool Salt System Repair & Installation Company.

Are Pool Salt Systems Worth It?

We find many homeowners prefer a salt water pool over a chlorine pool for several reasons. First, there is no addition of liquid chlorine added to a salt water pool. Because of this, the pool water is more gentle on your body, especially skin and eyes. Second, salt water pools are usually easier to maintain because the salt cell is producing the necessary chlorine needed to keep the pool clean and free of contaminants.

What Is The Difference Between A Salt Water Pool And A Chlorine Pool?

Both pools use chlorine to sanitize the water, keeping it free from bacteria and other harmful contaminants. In a regular chlorine pool, liquid chlorine is added directly to the water and filtered through the system to keep the pool clean and sanitized. A salt water system utilizes a salt cell generator that converts sodium chloride into chlorine. The salt generators typically need to be cleaned every 3-6 months to ensure they will last 5-6 years.

What Equipment Is Needed To Convert My Pool To A Saltwater System?

The cost to convert a chlorine pool to a salt generating system involves the purchase and installation of a salt water chlorination system. Fortunately, there is not a lot of pool equipment needed in order to make this conversion happen! There are two primary components of salt pool equipment. First, you have the control box. Second, you have the salt cell. Beyond that, there will be some miscellaneous parts and components such as pvc for plumbing, etc. The most important part of the conversion process is making sure you have an experienced pool repair company who has done these salt system conversions before.

Do You Need A Pool Salt System Repair?

The most common pool salt system repair is to the salt cell. Most of the time when we repair a salt system, it typically involved the salt cell, which generates chlorine for your pool.

Can A Salt Cell Be Repaired?

Often times when a salt cell isn’t working, the first thing to check is the last time the cell has been cleaned. If it’s been more than 6 months since the last salt cell cleaning, it may very well be the issue. We clean salt cells all the time and offer a scheduled service if you need it. Otherwise, we can take a look at the cell to diagnose the issue and recommend a solution. A salt cell generator will typically last 5-6 years. If yours older than that, it is very likely that it’s time to replace it.

Why Is My Salt Board System Not Working?

The other repair we typically see in salt systems is the salt board. Frequently, the main board will need to be replaced if your cell is working properly yet your system isn’t generating chlorine. If you have a question, give us a call and we’d be happy to diagnose.

Here are a few of the brands we recommend and install for salt systems.

    • Hayward AquaRite Turbo Salt Cell
    • Pentair IntelliChlor Salt Chlorine Generator

Both Pentair and Hayward are the gold standards in pool salt systems and typically all we install. However, if you have a preference for another brand such as the Jandy AquaPure, just let us know!
