Pool Resurfacing And Replastering Service

Are you in need of a Pool Resurfacing or Pool Replastering in Lakeland? We are Lakeland’s #1 pool resurfacing company.

A pool is the place where you want to spend quality time in a relaxing environment. However, the older your pool becomes, the more prone the surface material is to become damaged, discolored, display stains and rust. When the plaster or other surface material can’t be cleaned through an acid wash, it may be time for a pool resurfacing or replastering project. If there are cracks in the pool surface, stains, or rust, these are signs of old age and it’s time to resurface your pool.

How Long Will A Pool Resurfacing Last?

There are many variables as to how long a concrete or cement pool should last, including balanced chemicals and regular maintenance. On average, these type pools could need a pool resurfacing every 5-7 years. We’ve seen pools with plaster that hasn’t been resurfaced in 15-20 years, although it usually looks very unsightly by that time. Polished finishes and white plaster should have a longevity between 5-15 years. White quartz surfaces usually have a lifespan of a minimum of 10 years. Pebble finishes usually last longer up to 15 years. One thing is sure, pool resurfacing will give it a much better chance or reaching it’s useful life and increase it’s longevity.

How Long Does It Take To Resurface A Pool?

There is a preparation process required for a pool replastering service that involves hydro blasting, sandblasting then bond coating, or chipping away the old surface. After that, a polished finish is applied, or a finished coat of exposed pebble, polished quartz, a polished finish, or plaster is added. In all, it can take 1-2 weeks to resurface a pool. Obviously, that time frame depends on weather.

Pool Replastering

Replastering involves a process of adding a new layer of mortar over the entirety of the interior surface of a concrete pool that already has an existing layer of plaster. If you own a concrete pool, this is a maintenance issue that you will need to address every 5-10 years. Obviously, if your pool chemicals are consistently maintained, you will get more longevity from your pool plaster. However, it’s not the age of the plaster that matters. It’s the roughness of the finish that will indicate when you need a pool replastering.

It’s a generally accepted practice not to add more than two layers of pool plaster. If your pool has been replastered twice, it’s recommended to remove the original two layers and start with a brand new layer. Adding additional layers of delaminated pool plaster will not increase the stability as it’s no better than the old layer. Attempting to resurface a pool without the help of skilled plaster masons is a very bad idea. Unless you finish concrete for a living, a pool owner should never try to plaster their own pool.
